-Tongue action with Tommy during Fever (similar to Friday's show).

-When introducing Aftermath, Adam said something different and I think made a joke "This is like Oprah!" or something like that.

-Great dance with Brooke. Funny, too.

-IIHY had CRAZY energy. I was in the pit and we were all jumping and Adam was loving it.

-After IIHY and before the encore, everyone was screaming, clapping, fucking stomping! It was waaay more than Friday. I knew that there was no way he wouldn't do WLL.

-WLL was acoustic and SO FUCKING EPIC. HE SANG HIS FUCKING FACE OFF. It really was one for the books.

-Afterward, we stayed by the buses and got a picture (http://es.tinypic.com/r/befnt2/3) with Taylor (he's so cute and tiny!).

-Then we saw Monte (http://es.tinypic.com/r/23jl9pu/3), who stayed and signed people's shit, and Cam, who didn't.

-I FUCKING TALKED TO NEIL. He was exactly like you'd expect, haha. He was wearing the same black and green Adam hoodie as me, so I said "Sweet jacket, Neil" as I was walking by. And he replied, in his jaded, condescending way, "Oh yeah. You, too. HAHAHA, fucking Neil.

-We passed Neil again and my friend, who's hella tall and gorgeous (the blonde in the pic with Taylor) wanted to talk with him. So she goes up and asks if he's Adam's brother. Neil says, totally serious, "No...but I get that a lot." And I said "Sweet, Neil." In a joke-y, what-an-asshole way. It was so funny. Basically just how I thought he would be.

How is he real?

That's all I have to say. Tonight was the best of all 3 shows by a mile, and the other two were amazing. The crowd was alive, Adam was totally in to it, and it was a thrill to be there. Out of this world vocals, Adam with smiles that could light up all the dark matter in the universe, Adam and Tommy just flirting the whole damn show, Monte knocking it out of the park on every solo...a night to remember.

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE

'Idol's' Adam Lambert makes magic in S.F.

Making an entrance worthy of the celebrity magician Criss Angel, Adam Lambert certainly didn't look like a reality television castoff at the Warfield on Friday.

Wearing a top hat, fringed overcoat and about a dozen layers of eyeliner, he literally appeared in a puff of purple smoke delivering the slinking set opener, "Voodoo."

As he pushed his zombie-like dancers around the stage, Lambert hit the first of the night's many glass-shattering refrains, "You're the hunter and I'm your prey." An interesting cross section of grandmas and club kids made up most of the sold-out audience.

Despite his disappointing second-place finish last year on the eighth season of "American Idol," the 28-year-old San Diego native's popularity has only rocketed since breaking free of the show. Last week, his 2009 album "For Your Entertainment" topped the 1 million sales mark while offers for movie roles and television specials came flooding into his agent's office.

So while the current crop of "Idol" alumni struggle to fill seats with their own packaged tour this summer, Lambert had little trouble selling out dates on his big-budget Glam Nation tour, which also included a second concert Sunday with his fellow "Idol" contestant Allison Iraheta and former Michael Jackson guitarist Orianthi once again opening.

Those concerned that Lambert might tone down his act after the uproar caused by his American Music Awards performance (and subsequent banning by the producers of "Good Morning America") could rest easy.

Lambert put his extensive background in the performing arts to good use during his hourlong Warfield set. He probably would have been more at home at the Orpheum Theatre just down the street.

Lambert's cover of Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire" dripped with even more stylized pomp than the version he did on the television show. And he could unfurl his full vocal acrobatics on a run through the Lady Gaga-penned "Fever" without having to worry about facing the wrath of Simon Cowell's rolling eyes.

The concert's centerpiece was an acoustic segment made up of the songs "Whataya Want From Me," "Soaked" and "Aftermath" - all seemingly custom made to reinforce his narrative as a pop outsider storming the gates. "Wanna scream out, no more hiding," he sang on the last one, milking every word for deep blue melancholy. "Don't be afraid of what's inside."

Given the relatively short set time, the constant stream of musical interludes designed to give Lambert time to slip through his many varied black outfits felt like momentum killers. His brief between-song banter, meanwhile, sounded like it was pilfered from a rock star manual that had been lying backstage since 1986.

But Lambert thundered through the rest of the night with remarkable confidence, leading the charge on "Music Again" and looking like an extra from Duran Duran's "Wild Boys" video in a particularly fervent take on the new single, "If I Had You."

The encore, meanwhile, saw Lambert revert to type. Reviving a pair of songs that helped lift him through the ranks on "Idol" - Tears For Fears' "Mad World" and Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" - he reminded his fans why they put their faith (and votes) in him in the first place.

REALLY HARD TO RECAP LAST NIGHT. TO START WITH: IT WAS THE BEST SHOW I'VE EVER SEEN. I SAID THIS ON TWITTER ALREADY BUT IT FELT LIKE HE WAS TAKEN BACK BY HOW MUCH WE LOVED HIM ON FRIDAY AND ON SUNDAY HE WAS PREPARED FOR IT. THE WHOLE SHOW WAS A VOCAL DANCE ENERGY LOVE ORGY. ADAM LOVES US! HE REALLY LOVES US! HE GOT REALLY CLOSE TO THE CROWD AND WAS REALLY LOOKING AT THE PEOPLE THERE CHEERING FOR HIM AND DANCING WITH HIM, WHICH WAS AN AMAZING FEELING.

I'M NOT SURE WHAT THE ACTUAL NUMBERS WERE, BUT SUNDAY NIGHT ALSO FILLED UP MUCH MORE QUICKLY THAN FRIDAY NIGHT AND FELT MORE PACKED ON THE FLOOR. WE WERE BASICALLY IN THE SAME PLACE AT BOTH SHOWS, WHICH WAS AWESOME! WE WERE ABOUT 3 HEADS BACK ON TOMMY AND LP'S SIDE OF THE STAGE.

EVERY SINGLE NUMBER FROM THE START OF THE SHOW JUST FELT LIKE IT HAD A LITTLE EXTRA OOMPH (DANCING, SINGING, INTERACTION WITH CROWD). THE BANTER WAS VERY LAID BACK AND HE TEASED/FLIRTED/PLAYED AROUND WITH THE GLAMTROUPE A LOT. SOME EXAMPLES: CUTE COMMENTS ABOUT JUST ABOUT EVERYONE'S SOLO AFTER THEIR INTRO, LOTS OF INTERACTION W/MONTE AND TOMMY DURING SONGS (HE TALKED TO MONTE A LITTLE BEFORE AFTERMATH AND DANCED W/HIM DURING MUSIC AGAIN. THERE WAS FEVER LICKING W/TOMMY AND GENERAL PLAYFULNESS INCLUDING A FUNNY BIT WHERE TOMMY KIND OF CHARGED AT ADAM W/HIS BASS AND THEY DANCED A BIT). IT WAS JUST THE MOST AMAZING ENERGY. TO PARAPHRASE PAULA, IT ALSO FELT LIKE THERE WAS A LOT OF MOMENTS WHERE HE WAS "TAKING IT ALL IN."

PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING I SAID ABOUT FRIDAY APPLIES HERE (PLUS ADDED OOMPH). LOTS OF SINGING ALONG WITH THE SONGS FROM THE CROWD, WHICH MAKES ME SO HAPPY! :D FEVER WAS RIDICULOUSLY ENERGETIC AND SLEEPWALKER WAS JUST SO INTENSE. IT'S A GOOD EXAMPLE OF HOW HIS PERFORMANCES WERE JUST TURBO CHARGED THE ENTIRE EVENING. SOAKED WAS EVEN MORE GORGEOUS. HIS VOICE JUST SOUNDS SO PURE ON THAT ONE.

MY FAVS WERE STILL OPENING MEDLEY, FEVER, SLEEPWALKER, SOAKED, SFW, AND IIHY, BUT I'D ALSO ADD MUSIC AGAIN (HE WAS HAVING SO MUCH FUN AND INTERACTING W/THE BAND AND CROWD PLAYFULLY) AND WLL, WHICH WAS THE MOST INCREDIBLE THING I'VE EVER HEARD. IT WAS ELECTRIC AND ACOUSTIC AND FELT LIKE WLL x ROF. IT WAS GORGEOUS AND EROTIC AND POWERFUL. AT ONE POINT I MADE MYSELF LOOK BACK TO THE UPPER LEVEL AND I COULD SEE GUYS WHO HAD WALKED DOWN TO THE FRONT AND WERE EGGING HIM ON FROM THE BALCONY. NICE TO SEE! HE WAS SO COMPLETELY ON FIRE. IT WAS JUST A MASSIVE ORGY. IT'S DIFFICULT TO DESCRIBE HOW HE CAN COMBINE LOVE, AFFECTION, AND PLAYFULNESS WITH EXTREMELY CHARGED AND EVEN SEMI-EXPLICIT SENSUALITY BUT IT'S PART OF HIS UNIQUE APPEAL AND IT WAS FULLY ON DISPLAY LAST NIGHT. I ADORE HIM.

wow what a weekend. i decided to hang out at the bus barricades becuase i had waited 10 hours on the sidewalk for a super up close spot for the friday show and wanted to more wander round/socialize/relax, not stand up for hours. i got to meet or see taylor cam monte terrance sutan alli dave immerman liz. was totally thrilled to see adam get off bus and into an suv. what impressed me was that he looked soooo good in his outfit. tight black pants and jacket and blue beanie. just sooo striking. and then we saw him when he came back, with a different black fedora type hat on. In a hilarious ironic moment, we were looking down at a vid of him when the real adam walked passed. still got to see him for a split second tho. was a rush to see that sweet face pointed my way, even from a bit of a distance. went in to venue and marvelled on how relaxing it was to not be standing jammed int he pit. was able to get into back of pit anyways. was surrounded by 3 different groups of young gay fans, a lesbian couple who were more casual fans, a really awesome uber stan, two of taylor's relatives, and a few guys who didnt have his album but liked him on idol. so many guys!

[identity profile] fionamom.livejournal.com on July 26th, 2010 05:39 pm (UTC)
actual show was amazing- it was hard for me to see to i walked to far side of pit area where i could only see directly down the front of stage, like at the stage corner looking directly across it. just sooo much love being sent to him from crowd. could see him really looking at everyone.

Sleepwalker. i am a singer and was so impressed with watching him do this one. big breaths from his waist up, singers fill their lungs from their diapraghms, i could see THE ENTIRE LENGTH OF HIS BACK/torso filling with air and he was just powerhousing those vocals out. sooooooo cool to see his physical breathing/singing technique in such a powerhouse moemnt. in fact im almost tearing up because seriously it was such a beautiful thing to see. like it takes work to sustain and support that kind of vocals and he was just cycling that breath through so positively and strongly an beautifully. any other singers know what i mean? not sure how to describe this. like a perfect melding of classical trained vocal technique with a more spiritual raw rock vocals technique. it's like the work is done down low in the torso to support the breath at the diapraghm and then the throat is open and he was just flowing with it and just FILLING the ENTIRE THEATRE WITH HIS VOICE. add to that his incredibly magnetic stage presence visually and the fab dancing and his physical beauty and the whole thing is just freaking overwhelming.

at this one i really noticed his stage experience. Can project everything- voice, movements, expressions, to back of theater. omg i love him sfm. so awesome to see such talent in person with my own eyes. lasers were tremendous- went right over our heads in the pit like a canopy of light.

afterwards we waited an hour with like a hundred ppl to see him and some of us started serenading him with IIHU when he was at the other barricade, there were three barricades set up on sidewalk and on street. this was like a small backstreet/sidewalk behind stage door.

when he came by i was immediately struck by how gentle and delicate some of his mannerisms were. he signed my ticket and i immediately noticed how gracefully he moved his fingers to hold the ticket to steady it to sign it. another cool moment: ppl surged forward when he came over so he held up both hands and lowered them down, without saying anything, to say chill out guys/take the energy down kind of thing. and the crowd did relax. his irl presence was so graceful, more quiet, introspective. what a fucking rush to get to see him in real life. he was wearing his sparkly Bohemian Rhapsody t-shirt that he had worn in Vancouver on stage.

Another epic night! OMG! So glad I got to see him twice while I'm here!

It's hard to judge differences between Friday's and Sunday's concerts because I was in the pit, like, four people away from the stage on Friday but I had balcony seats on Sunday. Vocally, he seemed to be more ON on Sunday but I felt the energy more on Friday, being so close to him then.

WLL on Sunday was un-freaking-believable. Like, really, he's a freaky beast with those vocals. Also loved to see how, during every one of Adam's amazing vocal runs (AND OMG THEY WERE ALL AMAZING), Monte watched him, smiling like a proud dad. Really, they're all so freaking adorable.

He seemed to be more laid-back on Sunday too, interacting more with the band, playing more with the dancers. And the gay went up to unmeasurable levels on the stage gay scale. Which I approve of LIEK WHOA. Loved the licking, the ass-slapping, the bass-pointed-at-Adam's-crotch, the chasing across the stage, the nuzzling, the hair-pulling. He and Tommy are just way too freaking adorable for me to stand. And sexy. But so, so adorable.

Wish I could go to all the other concerts he's doing along the west coast but, even if I could get the tickets, money's an issue. Woe. I'll just have to somehow get him to be popular in my country so he'll perform there ;D

Most amazing nights of my life, not even exaggerating! He's just fantastic ♥____♥

Also, I did get some video this time but I haven't looked at them yet and, really, I had very good seats but my camera's not really good enough to capture things well from that far away. I know that I got Fever but I got partials of other things too. If I can work out the uploading thing and the videos don't suck, I'll link them here :D
