I was there! Omg you guys, he sounded so good last night. This is the third time I've heard him live-also saw him during the AI tour, and in Royal Oak, and this was definitely the best as far as sound went. He was awesome in Royal Oak but there was so much sound distortion that I felt like I didn't get the full experience-my ear were plugged and ringing the whole time and stayed that way for a week.

I really did not know what to expect last night. Didn't know if he would be performing his whole GN routine or not--so I was so thrilled to see them putting up his usual set. Wasn't sure what kind of response he would get-Chesaning is a cute, quaint little town, with a somewhat conservative feel to it IMO. I was therefore happy to see that the place was packed--I don't know how many tickets he ended up selling but it sure looked close to being full to me. There were a lot of older men in the crowd, older couples, lots of families, groups of teens. The crowd did seem a little dead during Alli and Ori, altho they came alive for certain songs. The response to Adam was huge though--people were chanting his name, and everyone screamed when he started walking towards the stage. The majority of the crowd remained standing throughout his whole set. I was very glad about this because I knew there was no way that I would be able to remain seated for any of it.

As usual his set seemed to go by in about 5 minutes. I kept thinking, slow down, slow down. He sounded phenomenal and looked gorgeous, and was so happy and chatty. Not a lot of sexytimes stuff going on tonight but there were some cute Adam/Tommy moments-Tommy gave him a peck on the cheek during Fever--and also some Adam/Monte moments. I can't wait to watch the vids because it was so hard taking it all in and I feel like I missed a lot. I didn't really get a good look during MA when he apparently almost fell off the stage, but I love how he incorporates those little moments into the show without missing a beat--such a pro. He sounded fantastic on everything, I really can't emphasize that enough, but standouts for me were Voodoo/DTRH/ROF, Fever, WWFM, Sleepwalker, and IIHY--his banter during this is so cute and he did an awesome little dance with Brook that I hadn't seen before. And the energy and happiness that he projects during that performance is a joy to behold. Oh, and we got WLL which I totally was not expecting! So he must have been feeling the crowd, yay! My friend, who is not a huge fan, totally loved WLL. She came away from the concert saying he really is very, very talented. Duh!

Oh and I forgot--I was worried about rain, as it was overcast most of the day. Well, the rain held off for his whole set, until literally on the very last notes of WLL raindrops started falling (he is such a HBIC). First, a gentle little sprinkle as we were leaving the stadium which felt quite pleasant, then, a little harder rainfall as we were looking for the car, and finally, a torrential, drowning, downpour. My friend and I couldn't find the car, and were running around in circles, completely dripping and soaked, as I desperately kept hitting the button on my key fob to make my headlights flash, amidst a sea of other cars with their headlights flashing as people tried to find them. Hilarious!

(Crossposting some of this from [livejournal.com profile] teamlambliff)

Yay concert was amazing last night!

Seriously, Adam has like special powers or something because literally the minute after WLL was done it started pouring. The whole concert was dry but I got completely soaked walking to the car. The venue must not have had any place for the band to change and shower after the concert (it was pretty much just a stage in a field along the river) because the busses left right as everyone else was. So it's pouring and I'm soaking wet and I crossed between traffic in front of one of the busses and who do I see leaning over the driver's shoulder, watching all us fans walking in the downpour? Adam, of course :) He was so cute waiving to us all.

We had amazing seats in the fourth row. I went with [livejournal.com profile] dreamingbyalake and her wife and friend. Her wife had a great camera and got like 400 pics. She hasn't gone through all of them yet but a couple are posted here:

And I videoed just the beginning of Fever:

Good review.

It seems like the reviewer isn't too familiar with Adam's music. I think his one critical point will work itself out, because right now Adam has only one album to choose his original songs from. Once he gets a second or third album he has a lot more material to pick from and he can pick the most memorable songs.

Lambert spices opening night

CHESANING — Even before the top hat and fringed jacket adorned performer made his grand entrance on the Showboat Festival’s main stage Monday night, Adam Lambert already had scores of fans around the venue wrapped around his little finger.

Fans traveled to the annual Chesaning festival from as far away as Detroit for Monday night’s performances which included “American Idol” finalist Allison Iraheta, Australian singer and guitarist Orianthi and Lambert. As the night wore on, more and more fans of all ages poured into the arena in Showboat Park, and the anticipation for Lambert’s appearance only increased.

“We’re here for Adam,” said Kim Dinger of Grand Blanc who was attending the concert with her friend Lisa Daffern. “He’s the draw.”

Tammy Bradbury of Saginaw was more-than-eager to see her favorite “Idol” runner-up. After all, Lambert’s appearances on the popular show were the reason she began watching “American Idol” in the first place, Tammy Bradbury said.

“I love all of his music. He’s awesome,” she said. “And he’s gorgeous.”

Bradbury’s husband Scott said he also appreciated Lambert’s musical appeal.

“He’s musically creative and really a talent,” Scott Bradbury said. “He’s really original.”

When Lambert was spotted about dusk entering the stage area before his set began, teens, dressed in T-shirts bearing Lambert’s likeness with trademark heavy eye makeup, screamed in adoration alongside 30- and 40-somethings who knew every word to Lambert’s songs.

It wasn’t long before the crowd began chanting “Ad-am. Ad-am” as if to lure the sought-after singer on to the stage.

From the moment the former American Idol finalist stepped down from a staircase prop on-stage, Lambert was the ringmaster in a circus of dazzling neon lights, rhythmic dancing and well-pitched pop music.

Opening with the songs “Voodoo” and “Down theRabbit Hole,” Lambert instantly had a crowd full of fans on its feet and dancing.

“His entrance was really good. It’s almost like your heart drops when he first comes on (stage),” said Julie Mitchell of Bay City, who alternately screamed for the singer, danced and sang along to songs from his album. “His music is the kind where you can just drive in your car to and jam.”

To the cheers of fans around the ampitheater, Lambert exhibited his vocal range with a variety of ballad and pop-rock anthems from his album, “For Your Entertainment,” including “Sleepwalker,” “Fever” and “Whataya Want from Me.” Lambert also covered the band Tears for Fear’s song, “Mad World.”

“He’s intense but he’s a people pleaser. He’s got it going on, but he knows what the crowd wants,” Dinger said.

While Lambert seemed to reign prominently in the hearts of many crowd members, fans also said they enjoyed performances from Iraheta and Orianthi, who entertained prior to Lambert’s entrance.

“Orianthi was amazing. She was like a hidden treasure for us tonight,” Dinger said. “She kind of had a confidence quality to her too — she could play the guitar.”

“I just know when the first song came out of her, I loved that song,” Daffern of Grand Blanc added.
